Alder brings in former newspaper chief

Alder has announced that former Sunday Times Managing Editor, Richard Caseby, has joined its team as Senior Adviser.

With an illustrious career including over a decade as Managing Editor of The Sunday Times and a board director of Times Newspapers Ltd., the appointment further strengthens Alder’s ability to provide world-class counsel to clients navigating complex reputational challenges.

In the public sector, Richard’s achievements include serving as director of communications for Whitehall’s largest department, the Department for Work and Pensions, where he led national policy campaigns for five Secretaries of State.

As the Middle East communications consultant for the UK Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet Office, Richard advised ministers and Royal Offices in Jordan and Oman, showcasing his ability to navigate multiple cultural and political landscapes.

After the loss of a family member during a mental health crisis, Richard has worked to secure accountability and systemic change in the NHS and government. He has also campaigned on behalf of bereaved families to ensure they are treated with respect and kindness when the worst happens.

Commenting on his appointment, Richard said: “I look forward to working alongside Alder’s renowned team of communications advisers. In today’s fast-moving and interconnected world, reputation management is more crucial than ever. We will bring a sharp focus to helping clients achieve success and build resilience.”

Alder’s CEO, Tim Toulmin, added: “I have known Richard professionally for many years and am delighted that we will now get the chance to work together, and that our clients will benefit from his unparalleled experience of journalism, public affairs, and crisis communications.”
