Crisis Communications Training for International Public Affairs Executives

Challenge

An international governing body needed to equip senior leaders from its member agencies with crisis communications capabilities fit for a changing world. Key vulnerabilities included cyber-attacks, EDI-related issues and the reputational risks posed by international conflicts -challenges that required a practical, tailored approach rather than off-the-shelf training.

Solution

Working alongside a partner consultancy from the Crisis Communications Network Europe (CCNE), Alder designed and delivered an intensive one-day on-site training programme in Malta. Support included:

- Briefing calls with attendees ahead of the session to identify organisational vulnerabilities, specific risk areas and desired outcomes
- Analysis of communications crises from comparable governing bodies, examining both well-handled and poorly-handled examples
- Bespoke tabletop exercises requiring participants to develop statements and crisis response strategies in real time
- Facilitated group sessions drawing on the morning's presentations to stress-test decision-making under pressure

Outcome

- Training was received as a major success by attendees across all member agencies
- Debrief calls confirmed a shared understanding of how to handle both internal and external crises going forward
- Senior leaders left equipped with practical frameworks and ready-to-use response strategies tailored to their organisations
